Fax Is Still Mandatory, but Work Has Moved Into AI Assistants
Fax remains a hard requirement across healthcare, law, and government, where prior authorizations, legal filings, and government submissions still travel over fax lines. At the same time, more day-to-day work now happens inside AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT. Until recently, the two were not actually connected — not as a real, structured integration an assistant could drive on its own.
First to Bring Fax Into the MCP Ecosystem
Faxify closed that gap first. On November 9, 2025, it shipped the first hosted commercial fax MCP server, bringing fax into an already-mature AI-client MCP ecosystem rather than arriving early to an unproven protocol. The missing piece, Faxify has argued, was never MCP itself but fax expertise: no commercial fax service had built fax as a structured MCP surface.

How It Works
Users connect the client to the hosted endpoint with OAuth 2.1 (including Dynamic Client Registration) or JWT, then ask their assistant to send a fax in plain language. The assistant can assemble a draft, generate a preview, and hold at a human-review gate, where a person approves the document before anything is transmitted. For example, a user can ask their assistant to fax a multi-page document to a clinic or a law office; the assistant builds the draft, returns a preview to check, and waits for approval before sending. The pattern shows up first in healthcare inbox automation: an agent watches an inbox for new prior authorizations, drafts the fax response, previews it for human review, and sends only once a person approves. It fits real-estate document handoffs and recruitment paperwork just as well — anywhere fax is required and a person needs to approve the document before it leaves.

Faxify routes faxes through SignalWire’s HIPAA-eligible carrier infrastructure with BAA coverage and stores documents on Google Cloud under Google’s BAA. Faxify itself is not a HIPAA-covered entity. Access to the MCP server is authenticated with OAuth 2.1 or JWT.
